Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer classes for Adults?

  • Yes, adult classes are offered most weekday evenings, some mornings, and on Saturday mornings.  See our class schedule for times and levels.

What types of dance classes are offered?

  • Lois Ellyn Studio is dedicated to the teaching of ballet, both classical and lyrical/modern.  However, during our summer workshops, classes are also offered in Flamenco, Modern, and other forms of dance.  Other classes offered during summer workshops include Pilates, Yoga, Dance History, Pointe, and Pas de Deux.

Where can I get more information about the summer workshop?

  • The summer workshop is typically held during the months of July to August.  Please check back at this website or call the studio (714-526-3862) for more information.

How do I know if my child is ready for ballet?

  • Each child grows and matures at his/her own pace.  By the age of 4, the Pre-Ballet class is a good introduction to rhythm, counting, and music.  Students are then promoted to the next level as they become stronger, more mature, and develop their skills in ballet.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call the studio (714-526-3862) and get guidance from Lois Ellyn on whether to start your child in ballet.

Does the studio participate in dance competitions?

  • The Lois Ellyn Studio does not participate in dance competitions.  Instead the studio focuses on developing young dancers for pre-professional or professional-level dancing.  Therefore the studio presents dance performances several times a year to provide young students with theatrical and professional-level performance experience.  Participation in the studio performances is determined by audition or invitation.  Not all students who take class will be performing in a dance performance.

The studio usually hosts several performances a year.  The events can include the Spring Concert, the Night in Fullerton event, the Fall Show and the Nutcracker performance.

Where is the studio located?

  • We are located at the corner of Euclid and Valencia Drive in Fullerton.  The studio is west of Euclid.  Parking is available at the back of the studio.

How can I help support Nouveau Chamber Ballet?

  • There are many opportunities to help the Nouveau Chamber Ballet and the studio.  There is always a need for seamstresses to help with costume alterations, repairs and adjustments.  Publicity and advertising sales are important fundraisers for Nouveau Chamber Ballet and volunteers are often needed here.  Also, during performances, volunteers have been invaluable with transporting supplies, chaperoning young children, manning the refreshment and boutique tables, ushering and many other behind-the scenes activities.

We are also happy to accept charitable contributions.  Our non-profit ID is 31-1550525.
Not only do these contributions help to defray the cost of dance productions, the funds are also used to subsidize our “Sponsor A School” program.  This program allows underserved youth the opportunity to see a professional dance performance at no cost.
